  1. Find the alphabetical letter (H = Social Sciences; HV = Social Pathology)

  2. Next, find the first number (6773.52 = Crimes and Offenses)

  3. Now find the next set of letters & numbers (.R47 = this is known as the “Cutter number” and will either stand for the letters of the author’s last name or, as in this case, the first 3 letters of the first word in the title, “Responding”.  The numbers, 47, represent the letters, “es”.)

  4. You guessed right!  Last is the year (2003) when the book was published!
