  1. What is the TOPIC or QUESTION of your research paper/assignment?

 

 

 

  1. What are the MAIN POINTS related to your topic?

 

 

 

  1. What are some keywords/synonyms/related terms for your TOPIC and MAIN POINTS?

 

 

 

  1. Is this a current or historical topic?

 

 

  1. List the types of sources that you plan to use (e.g., would you use books, periodical articles, etc).

 

 

 

  1. If databases/indexes are appropriate for your search, identify three that you expect to use for this topic.

 

 

 

  1. Develop a Boolean search statement(s) that could potentially be used in the Online Catalog or in a Database for your topic or question.  Remember to consider your keywords/synonyms/ related terms for use in the search statement.
    Search statement example: discriminat* and (work or employ*) and women

     

     

     

  2. Identify potential “free” websites or types of websites that could be useful for your topic.

     

     

     

  3. What questions will you ask of the reference librarian?
